If you're a college student entering a healthcare program—or you’re starting your first clinicals—chances are you've heard you need BLS certification. But what exactly is a BLS class like? How long does it take? What do you learn? If this is your first time, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered.
At Rescue Quest CPR, we specialize in stress-free, hands-on Basic Life Support (BLS) classes designed for first-timers like you. Whether you're applying for a summer job at a hospital or prepping for nursing school in the fall, here’s everything you need to know before booking your class.
If you’re a first-time student in a healthcare program, getting certified in BLS can feel overwhelming at first. That’s why we’ve created a dedicated BLS certification page for nursing and allied health students in Cincinnati, designed specifically to walk you through what to expect, how to prepare, and how to sign up for a class that fits your schedule.
⏱️ How Long Is a BLS Class?
While many large providers list BLS courses as 3 to 4 hours long, our class at Rescue Quest CPR is designed to be efficient without cutting corners. Because we keep class sizes small—often just 1 to 2 students—you’ll get through everything in about 2-3 hours, with plenty of time for hands-on practice and questions.
💡 You’ll still meet all American Heart Association (AHA) requirements—and you’ll leave with your certification in hand.
📚 What Will You Learn?
During your BLS certification course, you’ll get trained and certified in:
High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
Use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
Team dynamics in multi-rescuer situations
Relief of choking (airway obstruction)
Responding to cardiac arrest in healthcare settings
All of our BLS classes follow the AHA 2020 Guidelines, so your certification is accepted by hospitals, clinical sites, and healthcare programs nationwide.
🧘♀️ What’s the Class Environment Like?
If you’re worried about a boring lecture or being lost in a big group, take a deep breath. We’re not that kind of class.
Classes at Rescue Quest CPR are:
Small and personalized – so you’ll never feel rushed or ignored.
Interactive and low-pressure – ask questions, get feedback, and practice at your own pace
Led by an experienced instructor – with a 20+ year background in healthcare, including inpatient rehab, hospitals, and long-term care.
📍Where Are Classes Held?
Our BLS classes are held in Blue Ash, Ohio, just minutes from UC Blue Ash, Summit Park, and Kenwood. Whether you’re coming from the University of Cincinnati, Xavier, or a nearby community college, our location is easy to reach with free parking available.
✅ What You’ll Walk Away With
After class, you’ll receive your official AHA BLS Provider eCard, valid for two years—perfect for summer jobs, clinicals, or program requirements.
